Opportunity at a Glance
 Overview
 The Accounting Assistant will provide administrative and accounts payable support to the Accounting Department. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Manager Accounting & Finance, the Accounting Assistant will be responsible for  general accounting department support including cashiering functions, receptionist and office duties, data entry for accounts payable, check requests, disbursements, and other related duties as assigned. A successful candidate will have strong business acumen, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to interact with a diverse group of colleagues and leaders.  This opportunity will be a temporary contract position.

Responsibilities
 

Administration 
 

•    Ensure that excellent customer service is provided to students, colleagues and other internal/external customers.
 

•    Collect, sort, and distribute incoming mail.
 

•    File and maintain accounting physical records.
 

•    Order and maintain office supplies.
 

•    Ensure proper review and dissemination of colleague statements and department financial reports.
 

•    Key point for liaising and scheduling check-ins with Finance and other departments.
 

•    Provide administrative support to functional leadership and the accounting department.
 

•    Other duties as assigned by the Accounting/Finance Management team.

Accounting 
 

•    Record cash receipts in accounting database, prepare cash deposits and issue receipts as required.
 

•    Disburse and maintain petty cash, while managing the fluidity of floats.
 

•    Actively seek and implement ways to improve, streamline and automate the current cashier service and accounting processes.
 

•    Prepare monthly billings, statements and support Senior Accountant for accounts receivable records.
 

•    Assist in preparing Value Added Tax Government filings.
 

•    Review all invoices and payment requests for accuracy, validity, and reasonableness.
 

•    Ensure all invoices have the required approvals and information.
 

•    Maintain accounts payable invoice files.
 

•    Provide accounting assistance to the Accounting and Accounts Payable function as needed.

Qualifications
 

•      Associates degree or A levels in Accounting or business related field
 

•    Minimum of two years’ work experience in Accounting or comparable experience
 

•    Knowledge of Microsoft Office product (Excel, Word, and Outlook) 
 

•    Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
 

•    Experience with Sage Accounting Software
 

•    Experience with accounts payable software and general ledger processing
 

•    Provides a service-oriented approach to clients, both internal and external 
 

•    Results oriented with strong attention to detail
 

•    Ability to prioritize, multitask and work well under pressure in a fast-paced and demanding environment
 

•    Works and collaborates well within a team environment
 

•    Flexibility and willingness to work overtime as needed
